Shania Twain is marking a major milestone! The Canadian singer has officially turned 60 on Thursday, Aug. 28, and she’s embracing her sixth decade of life with gratitude and a little bit of nostalgia.
On Thursday, the “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” songstress took to social media to wish herself a happy birthday, and gave fans a glimpse of her beauty from when she was in her 20s. In her post, the Ontario-born artist shared a snapshot of herself in a dressing room wearing a glittery blue suit, as well as a more recent photograph where she’s posing with an oversized white buttoned shirt and black underwear.
“How can I be 60? So glad to have kept some photos from this time in the ’80s when I had no idea what was ahead of me and Shania f—king Twain didn’t exist yet,” the country-pop icon wrote in the caption to her post. She continued to share her appreciation to her fans and loved ones, adding where she sees the next chapter of her life heading.
“I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am for the life that I have. For my family, friends, fans and the inspiration I get from all of you,” she shared. “I’ve tried to stay true to myself along the way and that’s my intention moving forward into the next chapter.”
Fellow celebrities and lots of fans shared their congratulations in the comments section. Several people also reflected on how inspiring she’s been over the years.
“Happy Birthday! Here’s to many more! Thank you for the music and for being you!” penned Sleepless in Seattle actress Rita Wilson.
“60 never looked so good! Happy birthday, queen!” someone added.
“Long live the Queen of Country Music! You’re a source of inspiration to so many and we love you! Enjoy your day, because today is your day!” one fan chimed in.
Twain might be entering her sexagenarian years, but that doesn’t mean she’s slowing down when it comes to music and performing. Just this year, the pop star wrapped her third concert residency this past February in Las Vegas and performed numerous shows across North America in recent months. This summer, she even headlined festivals like Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ) and Cavendish Beach Music Festival in P.E.I.
After her show in Quebec City on July 12 where she reportedly performed in front of tens of thousands of fans, the “You’re Still The One” singer took to Instagram again to quip at her French language skills. In her post, she said it was a night she’d never forget.
“It felt like the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen at a show in Canada and you were with me for every note of every song,” she penned in a July 13 post, adding her thanks to the festival for hosting her.
