How To Clean Stovetop Glass Without Ruining The Surface

One of the best things about having a glass-top stove is that you don’t have to worry about drop pans and removable burners. As an added bonus, the smooth top stoves look sleek and can really add pop to a modern kitchen design.

While this type of stove is known for being slightly easier to clean, the ceramic tops are a little more sensitive to cleaning solutions than cheaper stoves. If you want to get your glass stovetop clean without ruining the surface, try one of these tricks:

1. Baking soda and vinegar

There’s a reason this combination is popular among organic DIYers: it works. Let your stovetop cool and then wiping it down with a vinegar-dampened cloth. Then cover the entire glass surface with baking soda. Soak a large towel in hot water and place it over the powdered surface. Let it sit for about 15 minutes before using the wet towel to scrub the stovetop clean.

2. Don’t use cast iron on your glass top stove

If you want to keep your glass top scratch-free, put the cast iron aside. The glass tops are sensitive to scratches and nicks. You might also want to skip the ceramic pans too.

3. Use a razor blade

If you find that you still have stains and stuck-on food on your glass stovetop after you’ve cleaned it with baking soda and vinegar, try using a flat blade razor (you can find these in most hardware or craft stores) to gently scrape the stain off.

4. Lemon juice and baking soda

Sprinkle baking soda over the entire glass top of your stove. Slice a lemon in half and use it to scrub the stove with the baking soda. After you’ve scrubbed the entire surface, use a damp cloth to wipe away the juice and powder.

5. Remove black stains with silicone and baking soda

If you accidentally left your burner on too long and have a big black stain, you can get rid of it with this simple trick. Rub a silicone spatula over the stain in small circular motions to fade the stain color. Next, make a paste of baking soda and water and cover the stain with the paste. Let this paste dry for at least 30 minutes and wipe away. If the stain hasn’t vanished completely, make a paste with baking soda and vinegar and let it sit for a minute or two before washing it away.

6. Choose your cleaning cloth carefully

You should use a soft cleaning pad like a sponge or cloth instead of scratch pads to avoid scratching the glass surface of your stove.

7. Put ’em all together now

After wiping all loose particles off the top of your glass top stove, cover the burners with baking soda, then spray the baking soda with vinegar. Let the combo fuzz for fifteen minutes before wiping away the mess. You can then use a razor blade to remove any remaining buildup. Repeat as necessary.

If you love your glass top stove, make sure to take good care of it! Don’t stand on it, clean it when it’s cool, and be gentle when you’re moving your pans around. When it’s time to clean that stove, make sure to try one of these ideas to get it cleaner, faster. If you thought these ideas were helpful, share the love with your friends and family.
