‘School Of Rock’ actor Nicky Katt, 54, was found hanged in his rented home in Los Angeles on April 8.
According to TMZ, the landlord found Nicky Katt’s body in the apartment. Five days earlier, the landlord had visited the actor to discuss overdue rent. When he returned, he found the apartment door open and found Katt hanging in the bedroom.
Katt’s attorney, John Sloss, broke the sad news on Saturday. TMZ sources said Katt had been dead for more than a day before she was found, and no suicide note was found at the scene.
On April 14, Nicky Katt’s sister confirmed that she had committed suicide due to depression. “Today, with a heavy heart, I share the devastating news of my brother’s passing. He took his own life after battling depression – an illness he fought bravely but quietly,” Katt’s sister, Elise Ravenscroft, told Deadline on Monday.
Nicky Katt was previously married to Annie Morse from 1999 to 2001. The actor was very private about his personal life.
Nicky Katt was born on May 11, 1970, in South Dakota. He began his acting career at the age of 10 in an episode of Fantasy Island (1980). In 1992, Katt played a waitress in Sister Act alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Maggie Smith. A year later, he made his mark with a role in the high school drama Dazed And Confused, opposite Ben Affleck and Matthew McConaughey. He continued to star in films such as Babysitter (1995), A Time To Kill (1996) and Batman & Robin (1997). In 2000, Katt starred alongside Ben Affleck and Vin Diesel in Boiler Room. He also appeared in Richard Linklater’s School Of Rock and Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.
In television, Nicky Katt appeared in 49 episodes of Boston Public. In addition, the actor appeared in other famous TV series such as Behind the Candelabra, Law & Order, Monk and Friends… Katt’s last role in his career was in 2018, when he appeared in an episode of Hulu’s comedy series Casual.
